BACOLOD City – A construction worker was fatally shot near his house in Purok Riverside, Barangay Montevista, a police report showed.
He was the 24-year-old resident Jonathan “Toto” Datoon, according to Police Station 4 commander Chief Inspector Ritchie Gohee.
Datoon sustained four gunshot wounds on the body after Wednesday afternoon’s shooting.
He was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in the city where he expired at around 6:25 p.m on the same day, police said.
Datoon’s grandmother, an eyewitness, said three suspects were waiting at a store near his grandson’s house prior to the shooting.
When Datoon arrived, the gunmen fired at him. The suspects then fled on board a tricycle parked at a nearby bridge driven by another suspect, police said.
Recovered from the crime scene were empty shells of a .45-caliber gun.
