BORACAY – Residents and others staying in this famed island destination were advised to expect a series of power interruptions in the next five months.
Aklan Electric Cooperative (Akelco) assistant general manager Engineer Joel Martinez said the power disruptions are due to the ongoing island rehabilitation.
Martinez added that they have to transfer their power posts and distribution lines to pave the way for the ongoing road widening project of the Department of Public Works and Highways in Boracay.
“In Boracay, we have overall 881 electrical posts. Some 471 of which will be transferred to nearby locations,” said Martinez. “The replacement of posts will run along the stretch of 20 kilometers…Around 218 units of transformers will also be transferred.”
Aside from AKELCO, cable television and telecommunication companies will also conduct a series of line transfers.
The cable television and telecommunication lines will be placed underground, sources said.
