BACOLOD City — The Bacolod City College (BCC), a city-run higher education institution, shifted all classes online on August 27, 2026, following the discovery of a note containing an alleged threat inside a school comfort room.
Mayor Greg Gasataya said the note was discovered at around 2:05 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, and was immediately reported to authorities by the school administration.
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) promptly deployed personnel to secure the campus and conduct an investigation.
Police officials also coordinated with BCC administrators regarding the incident and the school’s security measures.
Gasataya said the city government is working directly with BCPO Director Col. Eugene Rebadomia as authorities seek to identify the source of the alleged threat.
As a precautionary measure, BCC shifted its classes online to allow the BCPO and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) to conduct comprehensive security briefings and an emergency protocol symposium for faculty and staff.
The temporary shift is intended to strengthen the school’s emergency preparedness while authorities assess the situation and ensure the safety of the BCC community.
“Educational institutions must remain inviolable safe havens for our youth,” Gasataya said, emphasizing the city government’s commitment to keeping schools safe and secure places for learning.
