D’guete ‘drug group member’ falls

BACOLOD City – A man suspected to be a member of a notorious drug group in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental was arrested.

The 43-year-old Joseph “Joseph Fisheries” Banalo was caught on the strength of an arrest warrant in Purok Matinabangon, Barangay Calindangan, Dumaguete City around 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Banalo is alleged to be a member of the Renato Same Drug Group, according to the police.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Negros Oriental recovered from Banalo’s possession 37 sachets containing suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, an Oppo cellphone, and P600 cash.

Aside from that, police also recovered four .38-caliber revolvers and several bullets from the suspect.

Banalo was detained at the Dumaguete City police station lockup facility.

He was facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act)./PN
