MANILA – Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors halted its losing skid with a 25-17, 25-19, 31-29 win over Marinerang Pilipina Lady Skippers in the 2019 Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference at the San Juan Arena.

Ilongga newcomer Glaudine Trongcoso stood tall in the crucial stretch of the third set yesterday to complete the Lady Realtors’ victory and snap their 10-game losing skid dating back to the first round of eliminations.

The former Central Philippine University Golden Lions standout, who was fielded only in the latter part of the third set, kept the Lady Realtors afloat. She delivered the killer blows amid run from the Lady Skippers.

Amanda delivered nine kills and four blocks for 13 points while Pamela Lastimosa chipped in double-double 11 points and 10 excellent digs.

“I want to acknowledge my players who went through a lot of losses but didn’t give up,” said Lady Realtors head coach Babes Castillo. “We wanted to solve it and find a way to stop our losing streak. In fact, we really wanted to win in straight sets.”

After taking control of the first two sets, the Lady Realtors wasted a 23-20 lead from Troncoso’s back-to-back attacks as Lady Skippers’ Judith Abil and Chiara Permentilla countered with hits to give their team a 25-24 lead.

The Lady Realtors reached four match points only for their errors that kept the Lady Skippers forcing deuces until Troncoso scored her eighth point for a 30-29 lead followed by Abil’s attack error.

Abil had 13 points, 13 excellent digs and seven excellent receptions while Permentilla added 10 markers only for the Lady Skippers, which remained winless in nine matches./PN
