MALAY, Aklan – Chinese tourists were now leading the top foreign tourism arrivals in Boracay Island from Jan. to June this year.

The Caticlan Jetty Port on Thursday relayed that Chinese nationals registered 250,326 as tourists in the island.

South Koreans registered 197,488, followed by Taiwan with 14,476, United States with 14 305, United Kingdom with 8,372, Australia with 7,327, Russia with 7,074, Japan with 6,506, Saudi Arabia with 4,874, and Germany with 4,557 registered tourists.

For several years, South Korean tourists led the top 10 tourist arrivals in Boracay followed by China.

Julfe Rabe, information officer of the Caticlan Jetty Port said they are currently finalizing the total number of foreign and domestic arrivals for the first half of this year.

The validation is in cooperation with the local government of Malay and the Department of Tourism.

The Caticlan Jetty Port is the main gateway to the world-renowned island./PN
