Basketball Without Borders: Negros’ Alarcon MVP in Tokyo

MANILA – Negrense guard Harold Alarcon has been hailed the Most Valuable Player in the All-Stars Game of the Basketball without Borders (BWB) Asia 2019 in Tokyo, Japan.


The Silay City native suited up for the East All-Stars team in the Boys All-Stars. They scored a 42-37 win over the West All-Star squad which also featured Filipino Joshua Rafael Lazaro.


Teaming up with Alarcon at the East team were Mustafa Rashed (Bahrain), Atsuya Ogawa (Japan), Clifton Bush III (New Zealand), Alexander Frederick Zanbaka (Lebanon), Kyutae Lee (South Korea), Daniel Rogers (Australia), and Amaan Sandhu (India).


“It was a great opportunity for me to participate in Basketball Without Borders Asia,” said Alarcon who currently plays for UAAP juniors basketball champions National University Bullpups.

Added the former Bacolod Tay Tung High School standout: “The experience I gained there will surely be helpful to my basketball career. There are still a lot of things I should know.”

Aside from Alarcon and Lazaro, other Filipinos invited to the Basketball Without Borders Asia were Florence Jil Talas, Kristine Cayabyab and Joachim Eddie Laure./PN
