
HAITI – A Haitian senator opened fire during a protest outside the country’s parliament building, wounding two people including a photographer.
Security guard Leon Leblanc and photographer Chery Dieu-Nalio were injured in the incident.
Sen. Jean Marie Ralph Féthière opened fire as he left parliament in the capital Port-au-Prince on Monday, claiming he was defending himself from protesters.
Protesters gathered outside the building as the Haitian senate met to confirm Fritz-William Michel as the new prime minister.
