ILOILO City – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Negros Occidental 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO) inaugurated and turned-over four new school building projects to Salong National High School in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
The inauguration was attended by officials of Negros Occidental 6th Congressional District; Officials of Salong National High School and DPWH Negros Occidental 3rd DEO officials.
District Engineer Haydee Alunan said the projects include one unit two-storey Science Laboratory building in the amount of P9 million, one unit three-storey Regular Workshop building costing P13 million, one unit two-storey Information and Communication Technology Laboratory building amounting to P 9 million and one unit two-storey Regular Workshop building in the amount of P9 million.
“These projects were undertaken in convergence with the Department of Education (DepEd), our partner in providing quality educational facilities that will benefit the schools, teachers and most especially the students who are ‘the hope of our country’,” Alunan said.
School principal Julia Laurico said the construction of these buildings is very timely considering the increase in number of senior high school enrollees of the school.
“We are very much thankful for being one of the recipients of these school building projects. Rest assured that we will take care of these buildings as we continue to deliver quality and relevant education to our learners,” she said.
Meantime, DPWH has completed the construction of one unit, three-storey, 12-classroom school building at Binicuil National High School, also in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, and turned-over to the school principal, Mr. Julius Ongalon.
The 12-classroom building can benefit roughly 480 students of Binicuil National High School, particularly those who are under their senior high school program.
These classrooms, laboratories and workshops implemented by DPWH funded under the Basic Education Facilities Fund of the DepEd are all set for occupancy of the said schools, providing the students with finest and quality education that are timely and relevant to the demands of this generation.
Moreover, delivering these quality infrastructure facilities conducive and open for learners is one of the strategic methods of the government in creating a meaningful generation towards a competitive society by investing in quality education.
“With the strong and continuous partnership with DepEd, along with the cooperation of various concerned agencies and stakeholders, we are hopeful that more educational facilities will be provided to more schools in our District,” Alunan stressed./PN
