
MANILA – Bacolod Master Sardines failed to hang on to a double digit edge before pulling off a 76-72 victory over Bicol Volcanoes in the 2019-2020 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Cup on Monday night at the Imus Sports Complex.
After losing a double digit advantage in the regulation period and trailing 72-70 in overtime, the Bacolodnons came up with six straight points from Benedict Adamos, Edgar Charcos and Nico Paolo Javelona to pull off the victory.
Ralph Tansingco tallied 15 points, Benedict Adamos chipped in 11 markers, while Yankie Haruna, Jessmar Villahermosa and Jopher Custodio came up with 10 points each for the Master Sardines.
With the victory, the Master Sardines rose to 8-15 for 11th place in the South division and remained in playoffs contention.
“That’s what I am trying to make in this team, a defensive team, kasi I am more of a defensive coach. Ngayon ko lang talaga nakuha ‘yung mga players na gusto ko na susunod sa sistema,” Bacolod head coach Vic Ycasiano said.
Alwin Alday paced the Volcanoes with 23 points, seven boards, and seven dimes but they saw their five-game winning streak snapped as they slipped to 13-12./PN
