MANILA – Meralco Bolts played high voltage basketball since the opening tiff. It manhandled TNT KaTropa, 114-94, in Game 2 of the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals last night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Allen Durham ignited the Bolts’ offense with triple-double 44 points, 19 rebounds and 11 assists, while Baser Amer contributed 20 markers, including four three-pointers.
Kier John Quinto and Chris Newsome also finished with double figures with 12 and 11 markers, respectively.
The Bolts tied the best-of-five series at 1-1.
It zoomed to an 18-3 start with triples from Amer and Quinto before Durham penetrated through the KaTropa’s interior defense as the lead grew to 35-16.
Durham then connected with outside hits in the second period coupled with three-point conversions from Amer and Quinto as the lead swelled to 63-29 for Meralco at the half.
The KaTropa came up with a strong third quarter as they cut the Bolts’ 35 points edge down to 22 but the Meralco had answers from Durham to keep their opponent at bay.
KJ McDaniels tallied 51 points to go along with nine rebounds as rookie Bobby Ray Parks Jr. added 12 markers for the losing TNT./PN
