
MANILA – Khalif Wyatt scored a go-ahead triple as San Miguel-Alab Pilipinas edged Formosa Dreamers, 100-99, in the 10th season of the ASEAN Basketball League at the Changhua Stadium in Taiwan.
With 27 seconds left and trailing 97-99, Wyatt surged the Philippine team ahead with a triple.
Formosa had a couple of chances to steal the game but Anthony Tucker muffed two triples while a desperation bucket by Jerran Young also misfired.
Wyatt finished with 17 points, on three triples, to go along with five rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
Alab notched its fourth straight win after dropping their opening match.
Sam Deguara led the way with 20 points and nine rebounds, while Nick King added 19 markers, five assists, three rebounds, and two steals for the Philippine-based squad.
Formosa were ahead by as much as 17 points in the second quarter at 49-32 before Alab Pilipinas responded with a huge run in the third quarter to establish a 95-87 edge with over two minutes left.
Tucker then took charge. He went on a personal 12-2 scoring run — all on triples — to give Formosa a 99-97 lead with 1:18 remaining before Wyatt surged Alab Pilipinas ahead for good.
Tucker had a triple-double with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists while Jordan Tolbert finished with 25 points and nine rebounds as Formosa fell to 2-4 record./PN
