MANILA – Just like his former Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix teammate and fellow Negrense Mark Nonoy, Reynold Tupas has been impressive with the De La Salle Zobel Junior Archers in the UAAP Season 82 Boys’ Basketball.
Despite a slow start in his one-and-done season with the Junior Archers, the Himamaylan City native has been showing that he has adjusted to the UAAP wars.
Tupas rose to the occasion in their
previous outing – he scored 14 points in a losing cause against University of
Santo Tomas Tiger Cubs.
“Binigay ko lang ang lahat kasi last
game na ng first round,” Tupas said. “Sabi din ng coaching staff ibuhos ko na ang lahat ng makakaya ko. May cramps
na ako pero pinilit ko pa din. Gusto lang
talaga naming manalo.”
Despite closing the first round of eliminations with a 2-5 win-loss record, the Junior Archers are still well within theFinal Four contention if it improves in the second round of eliminations.
“Gusto
talaga naming makapasok sa Final Four,” said
the Negrense guard. “Gagamitin namin
itong Christmas break para mag-regroup
and to make a push for the Final Four.”
He added: “Nakita na namin lahat ng mga
kalaban namin at beatable naman sila
lahat. Basta mag-stick lang kami together, makakayanan namin pumasok sa semis.”/PN
