Asialink/E&C Trucking stays alive in Treñas basketball

ILOILO City – Asialink/E&C Trucking kept its playoffs hopes alive in the Mayor Jerry P. Treñas Basketball Tournament by posting a 108-101 win over TEJ Builders at the Jaro Gymnasium here.

John Bryan Sajonia spearheaded the attack for the Asialink/E&C Trucking with 27 points while Ralph Bajon, Ronrei Tolentino and Ryan Calamaan also made their contribution on offense.

With the victory on Sunday night, Asialink/E&C Trucking moved up to fifth spot in the standings with 2-3 win-loss record, just half a game behind fourth placer Guimaras Leopards, which has a 3-3 card.

“This victory is huge for us because we kept our playoffs hopes alive,” said Asialink head coach Rodel Camacho. “We still have two more games left. We will try to win it all to make it to the semifinals.”

In the second game, Uniwheels moved up to joint second place in the standings after an 83-76 victory over P. Doce SBC-Iloilo Doctors College.

Cris Loyola top-scored with 17 points for the Uniwheels, which tied J. Cordon Construction-DPWH 2nd District at second place with 5-1 record.

Nico Magtulis, meanwhile, finished with 21 points as the P. Doce SBC-Iloilo Doctors College slumped to 1-4 record./PN
