ILOILO City – A drinking spree between friends turned bloody in Barangay Cabugao Norte, Santa Barbara, Iloilo.
Herman Panes, a resident the village, was recuperating at the Western Visayas Sanitarium Hospital in Santa Barbara. He sustained stab wounds on the stomach, a police report showed.
The suspect was identified as 62-year-old Francisco Suralla of Barangay Lupa, also in the same town.
According to police investigators, Panes and Suralla were having a drinking session when a heated argument ensued between them. This prompted Suralla to stab Panes using a broken bottle around 11 p.m. on Jan. 19.
Suralla was arrested and now detained in the lockup cell of the Santa Barbara police station, facing charges for frustrated homicide./PN
