A CLOSE-IN security detail of Sarah Geronimo has filed a complaint against Matteo Guidicelli for punching him in an altercation during the civil wedding of the celebrity couple in Taguig City on Thursday night, Feb. 20.
According to a police report, the incident happened when Geronimo’s mother Divine arrived unexpectedly at the event.
Guidicelli was said to have confronted the bodyguard, Jerry Tamara, accusing him of leaking the information to Geronimo’s mother. Guidicelli then supposedly punched Tamara on the throat, according to the report.
Tamara, however, decided not to file formal charges against Guidicelli.
Geronimo, 31, and Guidicelli, 29, first confirmed their relationship in 2014, after nearly a year of being a couple.
While they are among the most visible stars in showbiz, Geronimo and Guidicelli have largely kept their relationship low profile.
Their engagement, for instance, was belatedly revealed in November 2019, “about a year” after the actual proposal happened, according to the actor’s younger brother, Paolo.
Guidicelli is one of three children of Gianluca Guidicelli, an Italian, and Glenna Fernan, a Filipino.
Geronimo is the third of four siblings, and is the only one among them who is in the limelight.
Even prior to their wedding, Geronimo has become a close member of the Guidicelli family. Notably, she was the maid of honor of Guidicelli’s sister, Giorgia, when she got married in December 2019.
In a public letter to Geronimo’s parents after the announcement of the engagement, Guidicelli said he is “extremely excited to start my own family with the love of my life.”
He assured Delfin and Divine, who are known to be fiercely protective of their daughter, that he “will give Sarah a happy life with the best of my capabilities.”
“Mahal na mahal ko po si Sarah. Mahal ko din po kayong magulang niya at mga kapatid niya,” Guidicelli said at the time. “Hangad ko po na maging isang pamilya tayo. Pangako ko po na aalagan ko si Sarah na kapareho ng pangangalaga ninyo sa kanya.” (ABS-CBN)
