MONTHS after she opened up about having a child, Glaiza de Castro is expecting her first child with husband, Irish businessman David Rainey.

De Castro announced the good news on Saturday, Sept. 12, through an Instagram post featuring photos of her showing her baby bump.

“Entering another chapter [pregnant girl emoji],” she wrote. “So glad I’m through the first trimester because… GRABE PALA. Will share more about this soon!”

De Castro also expressed appreciation for the women who have been helping her prepare for motherhood.

“It’s also been so nice and comforting talking to other women about this journey as a first-time mom. I need all the help I can get. Basta masasabi ko lang, ibang klase talaga ang mga nanay,” she added.

In the comments section, fellow celebrities including Heart Evangelista, Carla Abellana, Sanya Lopez, Gabbi Garcia, Julie Anne San Jose, and Ruru Madrid, among others, extended their congratulations to the soon-to-be mom.

De Castro and Rainey, who met in Siargao, first tied the knot in Northern Ireland in October 2021 in a Celtic-themed ceremony. They later held a second wedding ceremony in Botolan, Zambales, in January 2023.

The actress had previously opened up about their plans to have a child, saying that they would leave it to the right time and if blessed, she would ideally have two children.

De Castro most recently appeared in “58th,” an animated documentary about the Maguindanao massacre. De Castro plays Reynafe Momay-Castillo, daughter of photojournalist Reynaldo “Bebot” Momay, one of the massacre’s victims.

De Castro previously starred as one of the lead cast members of “Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre.” She is set to appear next in “Amir,” GMA Pictures’ official entry to the 2026 Metro Manila Film Festival. (Jessica Ann Evangelista © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
