BACOLOD City – Authorities here urged residents to just stay home and observe curfew hours to avoid catching the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) warned they will not hesitate to arrest those who will be caught roaming the streets at night past the curfew hours without quarantine pass.
Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of BCPO, said they already apprehended 728 persons for violating the curfew ordinance in this city from March 15 to 21.
The curfew hours start from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. and non-essential entry of persons into or exit out of in the metro is restricted.
Exempted from curfew measures are medical personnel and persons needing emergency medical help; night-shift workers at pharmacies and drug stores; security guards; business process outsourcing workers; public utility emergency personnel; firefighters and other disaster relief personnel; priests and ministers performing last sacrament or last rites; and public utility vehicle drivers servicing all of the above.
Major shopping malls in the city also implemented shorter operating hours in compliance with the government directive on general community quarantine as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19./PN
