SAN JOSE, Antique – Sixteen Antiqueño centenarians received P30,000 each from the provincial government.
“I congratulate the senior recipients of the program,” said provincial Fernando Corvera Sr., who distributed the social pension at the capitol.
The assistance dubbed “Kabalaka kay Lolo Kag Lola” was implemented through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), he added.
The provision of the social pension by the provincial government is mandated under Provincial Ordinance Number 2018-144 or the Provincial Elderly Welfare and Development Code.
Under the ordinance, seniors 85-89 years old will receive P2,000; 90-94 years old, P3,000; 95-99 years old, P,000; and 100 years old, P30,000.
Corvera said this assistance distributed to centenarians on Sept. 1 was on top of the amount given by the Department of Social Welfare and Development to these seniors.
Meanwhile, Gene Manlabi, granddaughter of recipient Severina Canja, expressed her gratitude to the provincial government.
“I would like to say thank you for the social assistance, especially to Gov. Rhodora Cadiao,” she said, adding that she will use the money to buy vitamins, milk, and food for Canja. (With a report from PNA/PN)
