ILOILO – Two dialysis patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) died.
One was a 48-year-old woman and resident of Barangay Baras, Barotac Nuevo town. Mayor Bryant Paul Biron said the patient died on Sept. 13 at a hospital in Iloilo City.
“Her kidney problem made her immunocompromised,” according to Biron.
This was the third COVID-19 fatality in Barotac Nuevo.
The other dialysis patient who died was a 37-year-old male from the town of Oton. He expired at a hospital, too, on Sept. 12.
“He was the second COVID-19 death for the municipality,” announced the local government of Oton on Facebook.
The patient was swabbed on Sept. 2 and his test result was released on Sept. 5.
Iloilo province’s COVID-19 death toll is at 20, data from the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 showed. But these two latest deaths were not yet included.
On the other hand, the province’s cumulative COVID-19 cases were now at 1,042 – 625 local cases, 417 locally stranded individuals / authorized persons outside of residence / returning overseas Filipinos.
As for Barotac Nuevo’s COVID-19 situation, the town as of Sept. 14 had 22 cumulative cases (two active, 17 recovered, three deaths). Three latest cases to recover were a 20-year-old female resident of Barangay Tabuc Suba; 50-year-old male resident of Barangay Tabuc Suba; and a 41-year-old male repatriated overseas worker and resident of Barangay Agcuyawan Pulo.
Oton, meanwhile, had 105 cumulative COVID-19 cases as of Sept. 14 – seven active, 96 recovered, two deaths.
The five latest cases to recover were a 32-year-old male government employee; a 26-year-old pregnant female; a 34-year-old female government employee; a 27-year-old female health worker; and a 20-year-old male (indigenous case)./PN
