SAN JOSE, Antique – This municipality recorded its 7th confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) case.
According to Mayor Elmer Untaran, Patient No. 7 is a 48-year-old male employee of an engineering construction firm in Iloilo City, where he may have possibly contracted the virus.
After exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, the patient was immediately quarantined and had his specimens collected for laboratory analysis on Sept. 7. The result was released on Sept. 13.
According to Utaran, the patient was in better health condition and isolated at the town’s quarantine facility under a strict monitoring by the municipal health personnel.
With this development, the mayor once again reminded his constituents to stay calm but not complacent and strictly observe public health standards like maintaining the physical distancing rule, frequent handwashing, wearing of face masks and face shields.
He also appealed to the public to stay at home and avoid non-essential travel outside the residence to stem further spread of the infectious disease.
“We appeal to each one to avoid any act of discrimination and spreading fear or insult among others. Let us continue to pray for healing,” the mayor said.
Based from the Sept. 14 data of the Antique Integrated Provincial Health Office, the province has a total of 54 cumulative confirmed COVID-19 cases.

* Local cases – 30
* Repatriated overseas Filipino – four
* Locally stranded individuals – nine
* Cases outside the province of Antique – 11
