ILOILO City – Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has now infected 91 employees of the Iloilo City government.
The data include six additional infections confirmed yesterday by the City Health Office – City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit.
During three days of mass testing on Sept. 23, 24 and 25, a total of 2,390 city hall employees and officials were swabbed.
Of these, 2,270 tested negative for COVID-19.
Also, over 800 employees of Iloilo City Hall already returned to work after testing negative for the disease.
The city government is posting the names of employees who can return to work on the Iloilo City Government Facebook page.
Mayor Jerry Treñas earlier announced that only employees with negative test results would be allowed to return to work.
The 91 positive cases at city hall were apart from the 33 employees of the City Treasurer’s Office who also contracted the viral disease much earlier.
City Councilor Jay Treñas was one of the COVID-19 positive individuals from the city hall. He is the second city official to contract COVID-19 next to Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon. Ganzon already recovered.
Aside from Treñas and Ganzon, three department heads also got COVID-19.
They were City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office head Donna Magno, Human Resource Department head Leo Elevencione and General Service Office head Joren Sartorio./PN
