MANILA – Citing “very personal reasons,” Department of Justice (DOJ) undersecretary and spokesperson Markk Perete has tendered his resignation.
Perete said in a statement on Thursday that it was a painful decision as he is enjoying his time working under DOJ Secretary Menardo Guevarra.
“After much thought, I have decided to submit my resignation from the DOJ effective today due to serious reasons. Thank you,” Perete said.
“I would have liked to continue under Sec. Guevarra’s leadership but it would be a disservice to do so at this time,” the DOJ Usec added.
Perete also said that he has yet to submit his resignation letter to Guevarra but will do so within the day.
Perete, a graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Law, was appointed as Justice Undersecretary in July 2018 and became the agency’s spokesman four months later in November.
Prior to his DOJ appointment, Perete was a technical assistant at the Office of the President with the rank of assistant secretary for the legal affairs./PN
