KALIBO, Aklan – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Aklan temporarily suspended the trips of sea vessels bound for Batangas, Mindoro and Rombon yesterday.
It cited the weather advisory from the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) placing Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, and Romblon under tropical cyclone wind signal No. 1 due to Tropical Depression “Ofel”.
The suspension order would be lifted once Pagasa issues a favorable weather advisory, according to PCG-Aklan.
However, motorboats from the Caticlan Jetty Port in Malay, Aklan going to Boracay Island were not covered by the cancellation order, according to Police Officer 2 Jerry Tehowrango of PCG-Aklan.
As of yesterday morning, Tropical Depression Ofel was moving toward the West Philippine Sea./PN
