ILOILO City – The Department of Health (DOH) in Western Visayas was not spared from the threat of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Director Marlyn Convocar disclosed that one of their employees was infected with the viral disease, prompting the three-day closure of their headquarters in Mandurriao district for a thorough disinfection until today, Oct. 19.
According Convocar, the infected employee’s reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test result came out on Oct. 16 but the latter had been quarantined since Oct. 12.
“Contact tracing had been initiated and all close contacts in the workplace were taken to a designated DOH isolation facility,” Convocar said.
Meanwhile, Convocar advised all second and third generation contacts as well as general contacts to self-monitor and strictly adhere to the minimum public health standards.
“In case they develop symptoms, they are advised to immediately inform DOH for them to be promptly and properly assessed and managed,” the director said.
The operation of the DOH regional office is expected to resume tomorrow, Oct. 20.
