BACOLOD City — A dead infant was discovered inside a rice sack in Sitio Maaswa, Barangay General Luna, Toboso, Negros Occidental, on September 3.
The Toboso Municipal Police Station (MPS) said the incident was reported at around 5:30 p.m. after the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) office in Toboso informed authorities about the discovery.
Initial investigation showed that a concerned citizen found the infant wrapped in cloth and placed inside a rice sack beside a neighbor’s house.
The individual immediately reported the discovery to local authorities.
The infant was later brought to the Toboso Primary Health Care Facility for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death and establish other circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police said the parents of the infant have yet to be identified.
