MANILA – Motorcycle taxis are required to install barriers on their vehicles to prevent coronavirus transmission once they are allowed to operate anew.
Interior secretary Eduardo Año said the barrier is required since the driver and the passenger do not know each other.
“The motorcycle taxi plus the appropriate barrier naman ay additional ‘yan. Napakalaking tulong niyan sa ating mga commuters,” Año said in an interview over DZBB on Sunday.
“At saka ‘yung paggamit ng helmet, ini-encourage natin ‘yung mga commuters sana meron kayong sariling helmet para hindi kayo manghihiram,” Año added.
In a resolution, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases earlier endorsed to the House transportation committee the continuation of the pilot study for motorcycle taxis./PN
