
MANILA – Negrense boxer Aston Palicte cruised to a third round technical knockout win against Reymark Taday in “The Restart” fight card in General Santos City on Saturday afternoon.
Palicte tested Taday in the opening round before the Negrense pounded his opponent in the second period with hits forcing the latter to quit just before the start of the third round.
With the victory, the 29-year-old Palicte improved his ring record to a 27-4-1 win-loss-draw record, including 23 stoppage wins while the 26-year-old Taday saw his slate drop to 10-13-1, with five knockout wins.
Meanwhile, former world champion Marlon Tapales cruised to a second round stoppage victory over Eden Sonsona while former world title challenger Joey Canoy stopped Jovab Lucas in four rounds.
In other results, Dave Apolinario maintained his unblemished slate with a fifth round TKO win over Bonjun Loperez while Michael Casama remained unbeaten after a second round TKO against Vergil Deguma.
