ILOILO City – Caught collecting bets for an illegal numbers game, five persons were arrested in Barangay Jelicuon, Cabatuan, Iloilo.
Police identified them as Cleofe Camba, 53; Rovie Dela Pena, 23; Elizabeth Ducasi, 49; Emily Yniego, 32; and Elvira Ducasi, 71 – all residents of the said village.
The suspects were nabbed around 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 17 when police chanced upon them playing “bingo.”
Recovered from their possession were playing cards, plastic container containing bingo numbers and P4,000 bet money.
The five were taken to the municipal police station where they were detained. Charges for violating Presidential Decree 1602 that outlaws illegal gambling will be filed against them./PN
