CULASI, Antique – A fisherman from Barangay San Pedro, San Jose, Antique missing for three days was rescued by other fishermen on Saturday, Jan. 16, around 11:45 a.m. in the municipal waters here.
The 25-year-old Junnel Aguirre was spotted swimming and holding on to a small pail between the islands of Maningning/Manuiguin and Batbatan by a group of fishermen led by Domingo Agustin of Manuiguin.
The fishermen pulled Aguirre to their boat and brought him to the house of relatives in Batbatan Island. They gave Aguirre food, water and clothes.
Village officials of Batbatan Island informed the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of San Jose about Aguirre.
The rescued fisherman was brought to Culasi mainland on Jan. 17.
