ROXAS City – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Capiz has authorized Gov. Esteban Evan Contreras to sign, on behalf of the provincial government, a deed of donation for a property where the proposed 5,000-seater Capiz Convention Center would be constructed.
The property is a two-hectare lot in Barangay Lawaan here. Owner Pueblo de Panay, Inc. is donating it to the province.
The proposed Capiz Convention Center would be multipurpose. It is expected to further spur the province’s growth, most especially in the area of tourism.
It may also be utilized as an evacuation center during calamities.
To be funded by the national government, the convention center would be the biggest in Panay Island when completed.
Construction is expected to commence in the first quarter of this year./PN
