ROXAS City – Good news to farmers. The National Food Authority (NFA)- Capiz Branch Office targets to buy 520,000 bags of clean and dry palay from farmers in Aklan and Capiz provinces this year.
Palay procurement in preparation for calamities and emergencies is NFA’s new mandate pursuant to Republic Act 11203 or the Rice Tariffication Law.
The grains agency procures clean and dry palay with 14 percent moisture content and 95 to 100 percent purity at P19 per kilogram, said NFA-Capiz acting public information officer Salve Mae Agustin.
For individual and farmers groups, cooperatives or associations that wish to sell their palay to NFA, they are required to present a farmer’s passbook which can be secured for free at NFA-Capiz Branch Office in Barangay Bolo here.
Farmers may sell their palay at NFA warehouses located in the following:
* Barangay Bolo, Roxas City
* Barangay Sta. Cruz, Dumalag, Capiz
* Barangay Mangoso, Sigma, Capiz
In Aklan, farmers may sell their palay at NFA’s Aklan Grains Center in Barangay Linabuan Sur, Banga town.
NFA’s resumption of palay procurement followed the merger of its Capiz and Aklan provincial offices known now as the Capiz Branch Office.
