JORDAN, Guimaras – Mayor Ruben Corpuz urged his constituents to stay at home as much as possible and go out only when necessary.
He cited the rising cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-9) in Jordan.
“As much as possible avoid exposure to large crowds. If there is a need to go out, kindly protect yourself. Be responsible for yourself and your family,” said Corpuz.
He stressed the importance of wearing facemask and face shield, proper hand washing and physical distancing.
Corpuz also discouraged the holding of large family gatherings such as birthday parties, weddings and christenings.
As of Saturday, Feb. 27, Jordan’s cumulative COVID-19 cases (since recording started in March last year) reached 106.
But Jordan’s active COVID-19 cases now are down to just 10; 94 cases have fully recovered.
The town also recorded four COVID-19 deaths – in the barangays of Rizal (two), Maravilla (one) and San Miguel (one).
The 10 active cases are in Barangay Poblacion (seven) and Barangay Rizal (three).
As for the whole Guimaras, the province’s cumulative COVID-19 cases hit 321 as of Feb. 26, with 44 active cases remaining after 271 cases recovered and six died.
The 44 cases were in Nueva Valencia (27), Jordan (nine), Buenavista (seven), and San Lorenzo (one).
Forty-three of these were in quarantine facilities in Guimaras and one in Iloilo City.
