BACOLOD City – To preempt the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the provincial government of Negros Occidental is adopting a four-day workweek scheme for two weeks beginning April 15.
“We have done this before,” said Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson. “We would like to manage the movement of people and the provincial government will take the lead.”
Provincial government employees will be required to physically report to work at the capitol from Monday to Thursday only.
On Fridays, they will work from home.
The memorandum released by Lacson also covers the provincial government’s health workers, those working in the Provincial Health Office and those whose services are needed on a daily basis.
“This will be implemented even without the general community quarantine,” Lacson said.
Diaz, meantime, revealed that three more capitol employees tested positive for COVID-19.
One, Diaz said, was the head of the Provincial Scholarship Program Division.
The employees were taken to the provincial healing center in Mambukal Resort in Murcia town. Their office has been temporarily closed for disinfection./PN
