SIBALOM, Antique – “Gintabog na kami sang pumoluyo.”
People were shooing them away, according to a 22-year-old man who turned himself in to the police station here on April 28.
According to alias “Toto”, he was the team leader of Squad-3, Team-2 of the Central Front Committee, Komiteng Rehiyon-Panay of the Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) operating in Tapaz, Capiz.
He joined the underground movement six years ago, he added.
It was his brother, also a former rebel, who persuaded him to surrender.
According to “Toto”, he decided to leave the CPP-NPA because support from the communities was waning.
“Gutom na gid didto kag ginatabog na kami sang mga pumuluyo,” he said./PN
