Bago City councilor ‘manhandled, robbed’

BACOLOD City – An incumbent councilor of Bago City, Negros Occidental was manhandled and robbed.

Sangguniang Panlungsod member Cleo Gaudite was about to enter his Mitsubishi Mirage after going out of a popular coffee shop on Lacson Street here on Wednesday when two men shoved him in and ordered him to drive to a nearby motel.

Upon entering Room No. 56, the men mauled Gaudite and took his valuables, including P7,000 cash, said Bago City mayor Nicholas Yulo.

The men used Gaudite’s car as a getaway vehicle. Motel employees helped Gaudite.

In a follow-up interview, Police Station 2 deputy commander Police Lieutenant Andy Ofalia said the two suspects were described to be in their teens.

Ofalia said one of the suspects only identified as “Jun” was around 5’4” in height, while the second suspect was around 5’6”. The latter was also wearing a bull cap and a facemask.

The men also had ice picks.

Gaudite has yet to make a statement regarding the incident as of press time.

An “all-points bulletin” or APB has also been issued to the entire police in Negros Occidental to be on the lookout for the stolen Mitsubishi Mirage./PN
