ILOILO City – An alleged health protocol violator was arrested for possessing a homemade firearm at a checkpoint in Barangay Bitoon, Jaro district.
Ernesto Cañete, 54, was a resident of Barangay Salngan, Passi City, Iloilo. He was flagged down by policemen around 10:30 a.m. on June 5.
He was not wearing a facemask, police said.
Police asked the suspect of his identification card.
As he was opening his bag, police said they saw a .38-caliber revolver with ammunition.
Cañete failed to show a permit to carry and license to possess the firearm, police said.
