11 new COVID cases recorded in Libertad

LIBERTAD, Antique – Over the weekend 11 new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections were recorded here.

According to Mayor Mary Jean Nicopior-Te, these cases were the following:

* one-year-old female from Barangay Codiong, currently admitted at the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital

* 17-year-old male from Barangay Centro Este

* 20-year-old male from Barangay Centro Este

* 23- year-old male from Barangay Centro Este

* 33-year-old male from Barangay Centro Este

* 52-year-old female from Barangay Centro Este

* 63-year-old female from Barangay Centro Este

* 16-year-old male from Barangay Centro Weste

* 73-year-old male from Barangay Centro Weste

* 30-year-old male from Barangay Taboc

* 38-year-old male from Barangay Union

Seven of these cases are in Libertad’s quarantine facility while three are on home quarantine.

The 11 new cases brought to 23 Libertad’s recorded COVID-19 cases.

Te reminded residents to observe the minimum public health protocols – wearing of facemask and face shield in public, physical distancing and proper washing of hands.

People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales.

These droplets also land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth./PN
