KALIBO, Aklan – The province of Aklan will receive 15,000 doses (3,000 vials) of Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
These are part of the 289,900 Janssen doses allotted to Western Visayas.
The target groups for this single-shot vaccine are senior citizens and persons with comorbidities.
The Janssen vaccines are donations from the US government coursed through the COVAX facility of the World Health Organization.
Aklan’s share would be delivered within the week. Each vial is good for five doses.
The one-dose viral vector vaccine is recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for people 18 years and older.
The bulk of J&J doses will be sent to priority areas of Iloilo (80,000) as well as Bacolod City and Iloilo City (30,000 doses each).
Another 25,000 doses will be delivered to Antique province. Capiz will receive 30,000 vaccine doses, Negros Occidental with 70,000 and Guimaras with 5,000 doses.
AKLAN VACCINATION
As of July 19, 84.27 percent or 11,716 healthcare workers out of 13,903 masterlisted in A1 eligible priority group received their first dose, while 66.96 percent or 9,310 have already been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Meanwhile, 14.93 percent or 8,522 senior citizens completed their vaccination, while 16,693 or 27.73 percent received their first shot of the vaccines.
About 60,201 senior citizens were masterlisted for Priority Group A2.
Aklan also administered second dose of vaccines to 4.67 percent or 1,861 persons with comorbidities, with 4,021 or 10.08 percent had been vaccinated with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccines out of 39,888 individuals masterlisted in Priority Group A3.
For economic front liners, the province inoculated the first dose to 2,998 or 22.28 percent out of 13,454 masterlisted for Priority Group A4.
Vaccinations for 51,856 individuals in Priority Group A5 or poor members of the population have yet to start in Aklan./PN
Mindoro rape suspect arrested in Libacao
LIBACAO, Aklan – The sixth most wanted person in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro was arrested here.
The 43-year-old Tammy Subiano of Sitio Agbatuan, Barangay Oyang, Libacao was charged in Mindoro with incestuous multiple rape.
Presiding Judge Jose Jacinto Jr. of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 45 issued the arrest warrant (Criminal Case No. R-8397) on Aug. 25, 2015 yet.
No bail bond was recommended for the temporary liberty of Subiano, according to Police Major Jose Marlon I Murallo, chief of police of Libacao.
Subiano was arrested at around 11 a.m. o July 19 by combined elements of the Libacao municipal police station, 1st Aklan Police Mobile Force Company and San Jose, Occidental Mindoro police.
The suspect was brought to the Libacao police station./PN
