SAN JOSE, Antique – The Department of Health (DOH) has given 14 towns in Antique the go-signal to vaccinate economic frontliners (A4 priority group) against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The Antique Provincial Health Office (APHO) identified the towns as Anini-y, Tobias Fornier, Hamtic, San Jose, Sibalom, San Remigio, Belison, Bugasong, Tibiao, Culasi, Sebaste, Pandan, Libertad, and Caluya.
They are considered critical and high-risk municipalities due to considerable number of COVID-19 cases.
As of Aug. 9, data from APHO showed Anini-y with 17 active COVID-19 cases; Tobias Fornier, 16; Hamtic, 69; San Jose, 308; Sibalom, 76; San Remigio, 56; Belison, 91; Bugasong, 38; Tibiao, 53; Culasi, 38; Sebaste, three; Pandan, 10; Libertad, six; and Caluya, six.
Under DOH’s guidelines on vaccine prioritization, the A4 group is made up of the following:
* A4.1 – private sector workers who work outside their homes
* A4.2 – employees in government agencies and instrumentalities, including government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs) and local government units
* A4.3 – informal sector workers and self-employed who work outside their homes and those working in private households
Four Antique towns were not given the clearance by DOH to vaccine their economic frontliners. These were Valderrama (six active COVID-19 cases), Barbaza (13), Laua-an (seven), and Patnongon (11).
As of Aug. 9, according to the APHO, Antique had 824 active COVID-19 cases, 2,853 cases that recovered and 174 deaths.
Meanwhile, 52,141 Antiqueños have so far been fully vaccinated against coronavirus (as of Aug. 3); this is 14 percent of the 380,271 target population.
