ANTIQUE – The recovery rate for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in this province has risen to a high 86.54 percent, data from the Antique Provincial Health Office (APHO) showed.
As of Sept. 22, Antique’s recorded COVID-19 cases hit 5,712 since the pandemic started last year.
Of these cases, 4,943 or 86.54 percent have recovered while 263 cases or 4.60 percent died. Thus as of Wednesday, the province’s active cases reached 506 (8.86 percent).
Ang active cases were in the towns of Sibalom (99), Anini-y (50), Valderrama (49), San Jose de Buenavista (47), Hamtic (45), San Remigio (42), Tibiao (39), Bugasong (24), Patnongon (21), Tobias Fornier (20), Belison (19), Barbaza (14), Pandan (five), Laua-an (four), Caluya (three), Libertad (one), and Sebaste (one).
Gov. Rhodora Cadiao attributed the slowdown in COVID-19 infections to the strict enforcement of health protocols in the 18 municipalities, including the restriction in the movement of people (only essential travel is encouraged).
“Epektibo ang ginahimu sang aton nga mga mayors,” Cadiao told Panay News.
Since Sept. 13, daily new cases recorded have not exceeded 50.

Cadiao urged Antiqueños with flu-like symptoms to get in touch with their Rural Health Units (RHUs) to be assessed.
She also encouraged them to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
As of Sept. 19, 76,540 Antiqueños have been fully vaccinated.
