ROXAS City – The mother of a 21-year-old woman caregiver facing an infanticide charge denied her daughter killed her newborn baby.
According to the mother, her daughter gave birth to an already dead baby on Sept. 17. The baby got strangled by its own umbilical cord, she claimed.
The caregiver gave birth secretly in Barangay Baybay in the house of her employer who didn’t know she was pregnant until the caregiver was brought to a hospital because she was bleeding.
According to the caregiver’s mother, because there was an occasion in the employer’s house on Sept. 17, her daughter did not tell the employer that she gave birth.
Based on the autopsy, the baby died of asphyxiation by strangulation./PN
