CAPIZ – How do you safely dispose used facemasks?
The Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (CAPENRO) is leading a campaign called “Mask-in-a-Bottle.”
Capiznons are encouraged to use plastic bottles as containers were to dispose used facemasks.
This practice achieves two things – safe disposal of facemasks and repurposing plastic bottles thereby minimizing plastic pollution.
According to the CAPENRO, the Mask-in-a-Bottle campaign aims to raise public awareness on the importance of proper disposal of special wastes like facemasks.
“Agud makolekta kag mahaboy sang insakto sang mga garbage collectors, kag amo man para indi na maglapta ang ini nga mga basura sa mga panimalay, kilid dalanon kag sa mga pampubliko nga mga lugar,” the CAPENRO added.
Facemasks are not ordinary wastes but hazardous not only to health but to the environment, too, if not properly disposed, it stressed./PN
