ANTIQUE – A total of 1,500 students of Antique National School (ANS) in San Jose town got their first dose of the vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Nov. 11
The vaccination team of the Antique Provincial Health Office (APHO) administered the jabs (Pfizer) to the following number of students:
* Grades 7, 8 and 9 – 750
* Grades 10, 11 and 12 – 750
Before the vaccination, the health of the students was assessed. They were also briefed on the benefits of vaccination.
After they were vaccinated, the students’ conditions were monitored.
The COVID-19 pediatric vaccination in Antique started on Nov. 5. The launching saw the vaccination of 80 youngsters at the out-patient department of the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital in San Jose.
The vaccination venues must be hospitals or near hospitals as ordered by the Department of Health.
“Hinali kon magkaroon sila ng accident or adverse effect ara na sila malapit sa may hospital,” said Gov. Rhodora Cadiao.
There are hospitals in the municipalities of Pandan, Culasi, Barbaza, Bugasong, Valderrama, Sibalom, Dao, and San Jose. Cadiao said the vaccinations may be done by clustering the towns./PN
