55% of Iloilo’s target kids vaxxed

ILOILO – About 55 percent of this province’s target pediatric population were vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Data (as of Dec. 3) from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed 126,192 children aged 12 to 17 received one dose of the vaccine.

The local government units (LGUs) with the highest rates in pediatric vaccination were:   

*   Guimbal – 123 percent or 4,876 vaccinees out of 3,976 masterlisted

*   Zarraga – 108 percent or 3,239 vaccinees out of 3,010  

*   Anilao – 78 percent or 2,646 out of 3,372

*   Badiangan – 77 percent or 2,459 out of 3,175

*   Banate – 76 percent or 2,889 out of 3,825

*   San Dionsio – 75 percent or 3,419 out of 4,559

*   Mina – 71 percent or 1,969 out of 2,768

*   Carles – 70 percent or 5,642 out of 8,013

*   Oton – 68 percent or 7,149 out of 10,477

*   Cabatuan – 67 percent or 4,589 out of 6,871

Here are the accomplishment rates of other LGUs: Ajuy (41 percent), Alimodian (39 percent), Badiangan (77 percent), Balasan (54 percent), Barotac Nuevo (54 percent), Barotac Viejo (65 percent), Batad (78 percent), Bingawan (58 percent), Calinog (66 percent), Passi City (51 percent), Concepcion (71 percent), Dingle (23 percent), Dueñas (67 percent), Dumangas (40 percent), Estancia (70 percent), Igbaras (45 percent), Janiuay (32 percent), Lambunao (35 percent), Leganes (55 percent), Lemery (72 percent), Leon (64 percent), Maasin (43 percent), Mia-ao (44 percent), New Lucena (68 percent), Pavia (60 percent), Pototan (51 percent), San Enrique (54 percent), San Joaquin (55 percent), San Miguel (60 percent), San Rafael (43 percent), Sara (62 percent), Tigbauan (31 percent), and Tubungan (25 percent).

Dr. Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon, head of PHO, encouraged parents to register their children with their respective Rural Health Units for vaccination.  

Quiñon said vaccination among healthcare workers, senior citizens, persons with comorbidities, uniformed personnel, and the indigent is ongoing.

Iloilo targets to inoculate 1,448,757 individuals to reach herd immunity./PN
