ILOILO – As Ilonggos usher in the Christmas season, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is reminding the public to be cautious when transacting in banks or automated teller machines (ATM).
According to Lowen Andrew Ligad, bank officer II of BSP Iloilo branch, the release of bonuses, 13th month pay, and other benefits to private and public employees could mean frequent bank transactions.
“Kon mag-withdraw gid man kita planuhon na naton kon how much para indi na mabudlay,” Ligad told Panay News.
The public must also make sure their surroundings are free of lawless elements.
“I-validate ang ATM booths kay sometimes may iban dira nga scammer nga nagapalibot. Aware gid kita para indi mabudol-budol,” said Ligad.
He added that clients must be updated about their bank’s advisories so they would know what time and day to transact.
Clients should also be wary of suspicious devices in ATM booths that could copy vital information like pin numbers.
For more efficient banking, Ligad encouraged the public to transact online.
Clients must also observe the minimum public health standards against coronavirus disease 2019 during bank transactions.
With the circulation of money expected to rise this month, Ligad assured there is an adequate supply of banknotes./PN
