ILOILO City – Charged with violation of Republic Act 9287 that prohibits illegal numbers games, a resident of Barangay Calumpang, Molo district here was arrested by policemen.
Auggie Zamora, 42, was served with an arrest warrant around 6 p.m. on Dec. 15. He was then taken to the Molo police station.
The court set Zamora’s bail bond at P60,000. Whether he was able to post bail or not was unclear as this was being written.
The “State hereby condemns the existence of illegal gambling activities such as illegal numbers games as this has become an influential factor in an individual’s disregard for the value of dignified work, perseverance and thrift since instant monetary gains from it are being equated to success, thereby becoming a widespread social menace and a source of corruption,” read part of Section 1 of Republic Act 9287./PN
