ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) reminded its police personnel to follow the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) “no take policy”.
Those caught receiving payola or protection money from illegal drugs, illegal gambling and even extortion will be held liable, said Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, Western Visayas police director.
Section 7, Republic Act 6713 (Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees) states that, “Public officials and employees shall not solicit or accept, directly or indirectly, any gift, gratuity, favor, entertainment, loan or anything of monetary value from any person in the course of their official duties or in connection with any operation being regulated by, or any transaction which may be affected by the functions of their office.”
“We are serious with this policy. Ituwid ang mga pulis na nawala sa magandang landas,” said Dongbo.
He reminded all the PNP officers and personnel of the importance of preserving their dignity as law enforcers and public servants mandated to serve and protect the people and their communities.
“Malaki na sahod natin so walang rason na mag-i- engage tayo sa ilegal,” said Dongbo.
He added: “We are required to display the highest form of discipline and perform our tasks beyond expectations.”
PNP chief General Dionardo Carlos himself said this recently in Metro Manila: “We can’t tolerate any form of bribe in the organization. The PNP has been living up to its core values to protect its integrity. We want to keep it that way.”/PN
