BACOLOD City – The three gubernatorial candidates in Negros Occidental vowed not to resort to personal attacks against one another or engage in election-related violence.
They pledged to instead focus on promoting their own platforms of government.
The three candidates – incumbent Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson of the Nationalist People’s Coalition, former Bacolod City congressman Atty. John Orola of the Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan, and independent candidate Ma. Socorro Sibulan Okada signed a peace covenant.
Lacson signed it on Feb. 11. It was witnessed by Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office acting director Police Colonel Leo Pamittan.
Orola and Okada signed the peace covenant much earlier – on Jan. 27.
The candidates also signified their commitment not to buy votes, cheat or resort to intimidation./PN
