BACOLOD City — A 78-year-old farmer was shot dead by an unidentified gunman while on his way home from his farm in Purok Narra, Barangay Tabugon, Kabankalan City, Tuesday afternoon, September 1.
Police identified the victim as alias “Karl,” a married resident of the area.
According to the Kabankalan City Police Station, Karl had just finished working at his farm and was heading home at around 5:45 p.m. while carrying a piece of bamboo when he was allegedly waylaid by the assailant.
The gunman reportedly fired several shots at Karl using an unidentified firearm, hitting him in various parts of his body.
The suspect immediately fled the area after the shooting.
Police responded at around 6:30 p.m. after receiving a call from the barangay chairman reporting the incident.
Karl was rushed to the Kabankalan District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
His remains were later brought to Sola Gracia Funeral Homes for post-mortem examination.
Police are continuing their investigation to identify the gunman and determine the motive behind the killing.(WDJ)/PN
